The Story

A sleek, statement-making table from a designer in MoMA’s collection.

Give your dining room a chic makeover with this mid-century modern marvel. Conceived by renowned designer Jean Prouvé in 1950, the EM Table is crafted in Germany with a solid wood top and angled, powder-coated steel legs.

The EM Table has an intriguing history: It accompanied Prouvé’s Maison Tropicale project, a prefabricated metal housing system developed for the Republic of the Congo. The table takes its cues from the materials and construction of the house, utilizing folded sheet steel for its streamlined legs, connected by a steel stretcher.

As stylish as it is functional, the EM is an ideal dining table that’s large enough to seat up to ten people. Both Jean Prouvé and the chair’s manufacturer, Vitra, are represented in MoMA’s collection.
