The Story

This print features a reproduction of The Blues (1974) by Romare Bearden, an artist whose work is featured in MoMA's collection. It's mounted and laminated for protection from dust and UV rays, and floated in a hand-stained, black, 2"-deep frame made from ash wood grown in sustainable forests. Hanging kit included. It measures 24h x 18”w.

Bearden’s work documented the Black experience and Black history in America. He was a founding member of the Harlem-based group The Spiral, which addressed the responsibilities of Black artists in the civil rights movement.
